Study abroad is a life-changing experience that should be achievable for any student, independently from their financial status. The Italian section in the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (DMLL) at OU is growing thanks to numerous enthusiastically motivated students who need our factual support to achieve their dream of traveling to Italy. Let’s give them a chance!
One of the most desirable study abroad programs is Italian Language and Culture Experiential Learning in Trieste, an innovative initiative of the DMLL that will take place in Summer Session I - 2018. The first 3 weeks will be taught on campus at OU, and the remaining 3 weeks will be in Trieste, Italy, where courses will be held at the Università degli studi di Trieste by OU faculty.
Your support provides students with the financial assistance needed to be able to travel to Italy for a study abroad opportunity. This will allow the Department of Modern Languages to award funds to students and have a significant impact on achieving their study abroad dream.
This is a very budget-conscious program with travel costs of approximately $3,000 per student. Price includes flight, accommodation, museums, breakfast + 14 meals.
Your donation may assist in covering the following expenses:
• $20 - 2 guided tours of museums in Italy
• $30 - one night in the hostel, breakfast included
• $65 - 3 weeks of classroom rental fee in the University of Trieste
• $80 - Train ticket round-trip to Florence
• $100 - 10 meals in restaurants affiliated with the University of Trieste
• $650 - full cost of accommodation and breakfast for the 3 weeks of the program
All funds will be entirely distributed in scholarships of a minimum of $1,000 for students of Italian. The amount and number of scholarships will depend on the generosity of your contribution. Your donations will give an opportunity to students who couldn’t otherwise afford to study abroad.
